Hello
and Happy Holidays! Whew – it seems like
the years are flying by at warp speed!
As you can see by the photos – we did a little bit of traveling in 2005. Highlights include an African safari and lots
of quality time outside enjoying our beautiful Colorado surroundings with
friends and family. We had a pretty
active year with an abundance of skiing, snowshoeing, camping, hiking, biking
and spelunking.
Speaking
of sports – we’ve been playing on a recreational softball team sponsored by Mary’s
company. We finished our summer season
UNDEFEATED and received cool t-shirts and a huge trophy! Woohoo!!
Mary is a complete softball STUD muffin – chalking up a few grand slams
and saving many close games! Me? I’m just learning the rules and having a
great time out there. J
All
of that running almost came in handy on our vacation. I’ve been joking with Mary that I wanted to
do an African Safari before I was too old to outrun an elephant. Little did I
know elephants can hit speeds up to 40 mph - and we did have one relatively
close call with one that charged our jeep!
To celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary, we spent 10 days in South
Africa on a photo safari. It was amazing
to be up close & personal with Africa’s “Big 5”. We enjoyed some of the most luxurious
accommodations Botswana has to offer and grew particularly fond of Mambo
Camp! Feel free to peruse incredible
wildlife photos and relive our experiences via our travel journal on our

On
the work front, both Mary and I experienced quite a bit of change this
year. Mary’s company was bought out by
General Electric and officially transitioned in February. It has been a bit of an adjustment for her to
get used to a more bureaucratic environment.
But perseverance is her middle name and Mary continues to thrive in her
job! In 2005, she took on an additional
role to provide support and service for all of the analytical instruments in
the Colorado region. This has allowed
Mary to meet many of her customers, gain tons of technical experience and make
her even more successful at managing her Field Service organization.
HP
continues to be a place of growth and opportunity for me. I made a bold decision (leaving my team and
manager of 3 years) to accept a new position in October focused on marketing
and communications for HP’s trade customer accounts. It’s a whole new world working with “real”
customers. I’m loving it and know that
it can only lead to even more incredible success!
On
the family front, we had a wonderful year of visits from dear friends and
family. Our furrkids are doing very
well. We learned that we have a son! All this time, we thought Fox was a girl but
a visit from the vet confirmed that he is actually a boy – and a rather rare
one at that. Turns out that little spec
of black on his orange fur is a unique DNA marker (male cats do not normally
have black and orange). So rare that he’s about 1 in 100,000 kitties with an
XXY chromosome. He seems to strut around
proudly with this additional discovery!
Stay
tuned - we have lots of fun adventures planned for 2006. Here’s wishing you the best year ever!

our love,
